PeopleOfEL, the Twitter account, records and mocks the funny, silly and just plain stupid things EL students say.

PeopleOfEL, the Twitter account, has become a Twitter phenomenon for students at Edward Little High School and even some kids from other schools, including students from Lewiston High School and Auburn Middle School. PeopleOfEL is a Twitter account where a few students from Edward Little post what people say and do around the school.

“‘World War II started in 9/11, right?'”

“‘You’ve never smelled butterfly wings? They smell like Cheetos!'”

That is just a couple of the many tweets from PeopleOfEL.

“I think we just wanted to publicly share how weird our school was and make people laugh,” one submitter said. “I really like people playing the game of ‘Who Is PeopleOfEL?’ [Students] get so into it. Personally, I didn’t think we would get so many followers.”

PeopleOfEL started in April and they already have 150 followers and 210 tweets.

“I think they’re hilarious! I’m surprised I haven’t been quoted yet, honestly,” Madison DeRosa, sophomore, said. “I’m just really curious to as who is running it. It would be pretty cool if they replied to students, like sarcastic remarks.”

“I’m sure there’s a handful of people who already know who runs it,” another submitter reported. “We would like it to remain a secret because if people know it’s us, they might not say weird things around us.”

“Some of the things they post are funny, but some of it can also be rude,” Meghan LeBrun states. “I think some of [the stuff they post] could be [made up], but it’s EL so I’m not sure.”
