Students take part in the Mummy Wrap contest at the senior Halloween party.

On Oct. 26, the Edward Little High School seniors hosted a costume party at the American Legion on Washington Street to raise money for their class. Money raised by the class goes to things like the senior trip and banquet.

I was there at the party, and it was a success in terms of attendance. There were various costumes, some including a “cereal” killer, an undead escort, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and many more.

Ender’s Got Game

By Alex Lally, ’14

“Ender’s Game” is a science fiction film directed by Gavin Hood (“Tsotsi”) and starring Asa Butterfield (“Hugo”) as Ender Wiggin. Supporting cast includes Harrison Ford, Hailee Steinfeld, Viola Davis, Abigail Breslin, and Ben Kingsley. “Ender’s Game” is based upon the 1985 book of the same name by Orson Scott Card.

The film tells the story of Ender Wiggin, a child prodigy that is the key to Earth’s victory against the Formics, an alien race that tried to colonize Earth many years ago. Ender’s superior officer, Colonel Graff (Ford), tries to push Ender beyond his safety zone to be the leader that Earth needs.ENDER'S GAME

“Ender’s Game” is very well acted with Butterfield and Ford definitely the highlights. Ender is an isolated individual, but get him angry and he’ll be a force to be reckoned with. Ford, as Graff, may feel like the clich├ęd military general type as times, but he gives a good spin on it. The supporting cast does an excellent job. Davis is Gwen, Graff’s second in command, who tries to tell Graff of the moral consequences that he’s doing to Ender. Steinfeld is Petra, who is the closest thing to Ender has to a sister figure.

The special effects are amazing with the zero gravity effects being on par with “Gravity”.
